VoIP Technology of How to Make Cheaper Calls

Innovations in the field of telecommunication have redefined the communication technology. Computers have made things easy and faster. Computers have now become an integral part of communication. The day is not far off when it may stand parallel to telephone in the world of communication. Long distance callers buy phone card and save drastically on the telephone bills. This is because per minute calling rate is very much less. Now the VOIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) device has made the long distance calls much cheaper and faster. In other words it is talking through computers instead of talking through telephones or mobile phones.

For VOIP, the basic requirement is that both the caller and the called must have computer and internet connection. The computers at both the ends must have either speakers or head phone or a land line telephone should have been connected to it. There must be a modem. There must be a software for the internet which can be downloaded free of cost.

To talk over the VOIP, both the persons must be available in front of their computers. They have been connected to the internet. Once the caller opens his email and types the email address of the other party through the VOIP, the person at the other end gets the message and he gets the ringing sound on the headphone. Then he can start to converse. If both the parties have webcam, they can see other and talk. This saves considerable amount on the telephone bill because the tariff in such case is drastically low.

Most of the calling companies have now permitted use of the Phone Cards for calling through VOIP. The only disadvantage of VOIP is that the person must carry his computer or laptop whenever he wants to call.
